Communication terminals, wall communication terminals

Communication terminals, wall communication terminals
Photon LB communication terminals, made from glass-reinforced plastic, have been in use for decades on railway networks as line or local (train station) communication terminals. Transportable LB communication systems for use on blocked tracks during track or tunnel works are also available; these can be connected to the LB plugs. CB communication terminals with central power supply equivalent to applications outside Deutsche Bahn (Army, inland waterways, airports, industrial sites etc.) serve as communication terminals with automatic dialling of up to three pre-programmed numbers. These are also available as wall communication terminals.
With the expansion of the GSM(-R) network and the increasing coverage of Deutsche Bahn’s railway network, the technology of the previously analogue communication terminals is also evolving. The implementation of GSM(-R) communication terminals offers many advantages compared to analogue technology, especially the automatic monitoring of the terminal, the transmission of an SMS in the event of a breakdown, and the prioritisation of calls and group switching. Photon GSM(-R) terminals are available as solar or power-supplied 230 V versions. Buffer batteries protect against disruption during power cuts or bad weather.
Photon’s GSM-R communication terminal for railroad crossings with barriers is a special application (see description in “References”). This replaces the wired intercom systems used on low traffic crossings to date.
With a connection to a fibre optics network, the use of voice-over-IP (VoIP) terminals is also possible. The advantages of central status monitoring are the same as for GSM terminals, but with a complete independence from GSM networks. These terminals are made from high-quality stainless steel and can also be used as information and emergency call terminals in public areas (see section “Emergency call technology”).
